Microzed camera interagtion

Hello,

I will be purchasing my first microZed board to use it for hardware acceleration for portable computation of computer vision algorithms. I do have a USB plug-and-play type camera that uses USB 2.0 connection for both sending video data and power. If I provide the MicroZed with 5V power through its barrel jack with a battery, will I be able to communicate with and power up my camera from the USB 2.0 connection of the MicroZed? Have anybody had similar experience with using a camera?

    Both links were very helpful.

    I plan to use the Firefly MV camera from point grey and so far I didn't find anything to suggest it not working with MicroZed. I will post my experience with it once I get my hands on the MicroZed.

    I have another question on a completely different topic if you (or anybody else) has any experience with it. What are possible options to send data from MicroZed to a receiver/computer without cable connection?

    I plan to initially use the CC3300 wi-fi adapter from Avnet (http://www.em.avnet.com/en-us/design/drc/Pages/CC3000-Pmod-Wi-Fi-Adapter.aspx) but I have concerns about the range of the on-chip antenna on it. From what I read, I expect it to provide me a range of up to 10 meters while I need a communication range of 100 to 200 meters. Any suggestions?
