Is my microzed DOA?

Hi All,

I recently received a Microzed SOM, but can't get any sign of life from the USB UART, which would suggest to me a power problem??

I must have made a mistake ordering the thing from AVNetExpress, because it didnt include the pre loaded SD card, cable and Xilinx licence. (is there a way to apply for this by the way?).

Also the boot jumpers were not populated, but there are what look like surface mount jumpers preset to QSPI mode. Should I remove these before soldering in some headers?

    All of the differences between the 'standard' and 'cost optimized' MicroZed versions are just Bill Of Material (BOM) and component place - don't - place options, so any of the MicroZed cost optimized differences can be changed by additions or removals from the PCB. So you can add a JTAG header as well as a barrel jack (take care and follow the instructions in the Users Guide if you plan to use 12VDC instead of 5VDC). Or you can add the diode and modify the board to be powered via the USB connector as the other MicroZed versions are.

     

    Take a look at the MicroZed Hardware Users Guide as well as the MicroZed schematic for guidance. If you download the MicroZed Bill Of Materials (BOM) zip file it will include one for the cost optimized version with the differences highlighted so that you can easily make of the changes you wish.
