DDR configuration on Vivado 2014.2

Hi guys,

I'm just updating some of my old projects, which was created in Vivado 2013.4 to Vivado 2014.2. I saw that, the board files were updated for this version of Vivado, and the strange thing, is that there are a lot of changes on the DDR configuration. (exp.: board file for Vivado 2014.2 supports just 512Mb RAM instead of 1G)

I tried to just manually overwrite the size, but as I saw there were changed a bunch of other parameters too, and I don't want to break my memory interface.

Can you guys fix this? It doesn't make too much sense to reduce the memory size from 1G to 512Mb. Or am I missing something here?

Thanks for your help,
Csomi

I downloaded the Vivado 2014.2 board definition files here: http://zedboard.org/support/documentation/2056 for both the 7Z045 and7Z100 Mini-ITX boards and started a new Vivado 2014.2 project and selected the Mini-ITX board. After running 'Block Automation' I checked the DDR parameters within the Zynq processing subsystem and it looks like it still has a 1 Gig DDR ram size to me.

How did you determine that the DDR memory size had been reduced?

    -Gary

Yes, your right, the definitions files are still 'supporting' 1Gig. I need to redefine my problem. :)

I think the issue is with the new xml file. I can not use it in non-project mode. With the old xml (version 2013.4), if I set the property called CONFIG.PCW_IMPORT_BOARD_PRESET to the path of the xml, PS was configured accordingly. Whit this new type of xml this doesn't work anymore.

I also expected that it will appear a new preset for ps7, after I 'installing' this definition files as told on the doc, but I could not find any new preset.

I will try to ask some support from Xilinx too, if you guys have some clue, what could be changed in this new release, that could affect the configuration of the PS please let me know.

    Thanks a lot,
    Csomi
