Breakout carrier for picozed

xzsawq21

hello

I'm working on system identification.

I'm interested in PicoZed based on Z7030 and I have to build a AD/DA daughter board to connect to PicoZed.

unfortunately I couldn't find a Breakout carrier for picozed plus all the traces' length should be equal.

carrier v1 and v2 are so complicated.

my time is limited and I got stuck in choosing a proper Board.

Regards

Hello xzsawq21, If you are determined to use the PicoZed Z7030, I would suggest you use the PicoZed FMC Carrier Card V2 as that is your best option. However you do have the option to create your own, but…

Hello Xzsawq21, Upon further research I was able to find an AD/DA FMC from ADI that can directly connect to a PicoZed FMC V2. http://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation…

    Hello xzsawq21,

If you are determined to use the PicoZed Z7030, I would suggest you use the PicoZed FMC Carrier Card V2 as that is your best option. However you do have the option to create your own, but due to your time constrains I do not know how viable that would be.

:) it's so odd that you have produced a proper Breakout for PicoZed SDR but for PicoZed not!

Anyhow I think I've to migrate to Trenz-electronic.

    Hello Xzsawq21,

Upon further research I was able to find an AD/DA FMC from ADI that can directly connect to a PicoZed FMC V2.

    http://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/ad-dac-fmc.html#eb-overview

As per your concerns above in regards to having to read trace lengths, it is actually easier to read the trace length chart than to use a Breakout Carrier Card as the cable would not be cut as precise as the IO Carrier. The FMC on the PicoZed PMC Carrier Card V2 was routed such that all the traces TO the FMC were within a pretty tight tolerance. The last thing you would need to do is take into account package delays, which would also complicate a Breakout Carrier Card.

So I believe your best course of action in your time frame would be to use the FMC above with the PicoZed FMC Carrier Card V2 and PicoZed 7030.
