Hi,

I'm looking at how I could write a driver for some other OS than Linux to support the PicoZed SOM board. I couldn't find any documentation how to program the devices, however. Is such documentation available?

What I'm after is information about which addresses the hardware is located at, what registers they have and how to program them etc.

    Hi mats,

    What makes Linux drivers different than most other embedded OS drivers is that they achieve these two things:

    1) Conformity to the Linux kernel driver API.

    2) Provide a mechanism through memory virtualization barrier to access the physical memory map within the system.

    Other than that, drivers are very similar from embedded OS to another embedded OS.  There is a Standalone (baremetal) driver provided for most peripherals as part of the Standalone BSP created within SDK for your PicoZed hardware definition which is derived from your Vivado hardware project.

    If you are simply looking for information on the hard peripherals and where they are located, I suggest looking at Xilinx UG585, the Zynq Technical Reference Manual:

    For memory locations of your Programmable Logic peripherals, you will need to look at the Address Editor window in Vivado to find the base address for an IP.  Once you know the base address, be sure to look to the IP specific documentation to discover the memory offsets to the control and status registers for that IP.
