Is it possible to add a usb hub chip on the custom carrier for picozed?

I have recently added a usb hub chip (CY7C65634-48AXC) in a custom carrier board for picozed 7015 to support 2 USB host ports, but FAILED.   

BOOT LOG:

usb 1-1.1: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb 1-1.1: new full-speed USB device number 5 using ci_hdrc
usb 1-1.1: device not accepting address 5, error -32
usb 1-1.1: new full-speed USB device number 6 using ci_hdrc
 
LSUSB:

I noticed that the Mini-ITX board has used the combination of USB3320 + CY7C65632-28QFN, but the REFCLK input of USB3320 is a 12 MHz clock which is different from a 24 MHz clock input in Picozed7015. 

 

I suspect that the problem I encountered comes from the clock frequency.  Question is, is it possible to add a usb hub chip on the custom carrier for picozed?

    Hi Wuhingbang,

    Yes it is possible to add a usb hub chip to a customer carrier card for PicoZed. As you have experienced, you need a 24MHz input clock to interface with the PicoZeds USB 2.0. You are free to put a different  clock on your circuit to make it compatible with your design, as you pointed out the Mini-ITX has a circuit you can mimic. If you choose this path it is at your own risk. We provided a working example for the MIni_itx It will be your responsibility for properly porting it over for the PicoZed Som.
