VCCINT-0P95V Below Spec

On multiple PicoZed SDR's we are observing VCCINT-0P95V at 0.919V, which is below min spec (0.93V).  I traced the problem to excessive voltage drop across inductor E6.  (VOUT3 is at 0.964V).

Just an observation so far, we seem to be operating fine despite the low rail.

I would use the ADM1166 margining feature to boost the rail, but I am worried about over-voltaging VCC-BRAM, which is also fed from VOUT3.  VCC-BRAM is only exposed on the bottom of the SOM (E5 and C194) in the middle of the connectors, so is a difficult rail to probe.

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the heads up. We'll take a look at it in the lab and post back to this thread.

    Matt,

I did some additional testing on this problem where the PicoZed SDR VCCINT voltage is below spec at 0.92. I measured the same low supply voltage on all 4 of the boards that we have in our possession on the lab.

I elevated the temperature of the PicoZed and that resulted in new power supply problems. At the elevated temperature, the ADM1166 power sequencer automatically powers off the FPGA power supplies during particular times in our normal operation when the Zynq PL core transfers a large amount of internal register data simultaneously.

Is it possible to replace E6 with another component that has less DC resistance? What if I replaced E6 with a wire, is the reduced filtering a problem?

    Thanks for your help!
    John
