SDR modem/RF spec details

Hello,

I have the following questions:

* What are the modem modulations available on this unit? Will it do higher order modulations such as 256QAM?

* What is the peak data rate?

* What is the Tx output power available at the RF ports in general?

* As for the PA on the development kit, what is the frequency range and output power? Are there different PA modules available for narrower frequency ranges?

Thanks,
Eric

    Hello Eric,

It's probably best to start with an understanding that the Zynq SoC responsible for modulation is capable of doing whatever you can dream up.  256QAM, no problem.  You either have to write the code yourself, look to MathWorks for example designs, or pay a 3rd party IP house to develope it.

Peak data rate is set by the AD9361.  See discussion here:   https://ez.analog.com/thread/44810

"The LVDS bus runs at 245.76 MHz (max) at DDR but half-sample size per edge (6bits DDR is equivalent to 12 bit SDR). So the output is 245.76 MSPS. This is for 2 antenna ports. So each antenna has 122.88 MSPS.  Each antenna has I & Q samples. Therefore each I or Q comes up at 61.44 MSPS"

There is no PA nor LNA on the SOM itself, so again it's the AD9361 spec.

The PA implemented on the RF Personality Module tuned to 2.4GHz.  Other modules for different carrier ranges will follow afterwards.

    Thanks,
    Matt
