Hi.
First, I would like to notify I am lack of linux and English...

Anyway, What I want to know is if the linux on Github linux-digilent is same as my linux on SD card included in zedboard or not.

Linux version that I checked is Linux version 3.3.0-digilent-12.07-zed-beta.

And, I want to know how to modify and recompile linux kernel.

    Hi symbol010,

The Digilent Github is now under https://github.com/Digilent/linux-digilent.git

For the most up to date kernel support for ZedBoard, I would recommend using the Xilinx kernel repository found here:

    https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx

We have detailed instructions for using the Xilinx git repository in our Implementing Linux on Zynq SpeedWay training course which you can find under the training section of this ZedBoard.org site.

    Regards,

    -Kevin

    Hi zedhed,

Sir I am trying to boot zedboard and to create zImage file. I have downloaded the resources from linux-digilent githun repository. But the file digilent_zed_defconfig is from the arm folder.

Kindly tell me from where I can get the required file.

    Hello,

I am not sure what file is required.

As suggested in my original response, using the Xilinx Linux kernel repository is recommended.  Even better yet, if you are not all that familiar with building Linux on your own then the Xilinx PetaLinux tools are a good place to start since there is built in ZedBoard support.

If you need to use the Digilent Linux kernel repository, I would suggest that you contact the Digilent folks directly through their forums for support.

    -Kevin

I think, that the best Linux repo for Zedboard is adv-linux from Analog Devices, because it is mirror of xilinx-linux with additional drivers, and they also have manual for creating reference hardware design with Linux for Zedboard. With this design you can easly use almost all the hardware that is connected to PL, as most of it comes from ADI.

    Zedboard reference design: https://github.com/analogdevicesinc/hdl/tree/master/projects/adv7511/zed

    Linux repo form ADI: https://github.com/analogdevicesinc/linux

Guide for building Linux for Zedboard (with link to manual for building hardware design): https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-drivers/platforms/zynq
