SPI communication on Zedboard

Hi all!

I'm completely new to ZedBoard and i have given a task to interface a stepper motor (TMC5072 EVAL) with ZedBoard through SPI Communication. I have went through several tutorials but i couldn't find one for my requirements.

I have developed the hardware but struck with the SDK programming. If anyone has a reference design, kindly help me out on this.

Hello Sriram,
What Operating System are you using? Baremetal or Linux? Unfortunately we do not have much in the way for SPI reference designs. My suggestion would be in your hardware block design, add a SPI Controller and let it talk to your chip.
Also since you are new to Zedboard, I would highly suggest you go through the ZYNQ Hardware Tutorial we have at

This will give you insite into Hardware Design with Zynq.
Also take a look at the MicroZed chronicles that cover SPI, Issues 81-84

Thanks for your reply. Mine is a Baremetal project. I have developed a hardware block design but I'm struck at the software development(SDK) programming.
