Bare-metal OLED

Hi All,

I am looking for a bare-metal example for OLED. I was able to find examples of communicating to OLED from PL side.
For bare-metal we will need to communicate from the MIO side using the QSPI.
If anyone has accomplished this or some thing similar, your inputs will be helpful for me.

    You are going to have to give us a little more information before we can attempt to help you.

     

    What board are you using? ZedBoard?

     

    Is the OLED you want to use already on your board, as on the ZedBoard, or are you adding via something like a PMOD? What Zynq signal pins are connected to your device? What OLED if this is not the ZedBoard?

     

    Do you really mean to use the QSPI controller, which is connected directly to a QSPI Flash device on most boards, or one of the PS SPI controllers?

     

    What version of Xilinx tools are you using and what is your host PC OS?

    Thanks for your reply.

    I am using ZedBoard. I want to use the OLED which is on the board. I am not using any kind of a PMOD.

    In the ZedBoard documents I saw that the OLED is connected on the PL side. I want to display contents on the OLED. How can I do this by using bare-metal?

    I want to use the SPI which is present on the PS side. I am in need of the SPI driver and a sample application that display contents on the OLED.

    I am using Xilinx SDK 2015.03. The SDK provides examples but it is only on the MIO side. No examples are provided for the PL side.

    Hello Sangamesh,

     

    A quick search of this site or a google search of zedboard and OLED turns up lots of information and links. Here is one example.

    Basically the OLED on the Zedboard is similar to this Digilent PMOD:

    If you do want to use the SPI controller from the Zynq PS you can just route the signals from the MIO to the EMIO connections to the Zynq PL (Programmable Logic) and connect them to the OLED interface within the PL.
