Compiling kernel module (Pulsar) on MiniZed

cdiscepo
cdiscepo over 8 years ago

Hello,

Does anyone know where the toolchain for pulsar is located?  I wish to cross-compile from my Ubuntu workstation and then transfer the binaries/files.

Also I assume the toolchain will allow me to build *.ko (kernel modules).

The version of Pulsar currently running on my MiniZED is 4.1.33-pulsar-standard.

Thank you

    Hello,

You mention you are running Wind River Pulsar Linux on MiniZed.  I am afraid you are in a bit of uncharted water.  Normally, for our other dev boards and SoMs (MicroZed, PicoZed, etc.) the Pulsar Linux mounts a partition on a microSD card for a root file system.  Since the MiniZed does not have a SD card, I am wondering what you are using for a rootfs with Pulsar?

Wind River Pulsar Linux is based on Yocto, so when you clone the Pulsar git repository you have everything you need to cross-compile for your Zynq target.  There is no SDK IDE for Pulsar like, for example, the Xilinx SDK, but users are able to clone the Pulsar git repository, add recipes for custom applications, driver modules, etc., and build new Pulsar images.  There are many example tutorials for the MicroZed IIoT Starter Kit on microzed.org.  These tutorials can be adapted to the MiniZed board.

Start with the Out-Of-Box Image tutorial:
