Pulsar Linux and modifying the PL

Former Member

Is anyone out there having any luck compiling the windriver linux?  We are following the step by step guide and cant get the process to work.  I would love to hear if someone is getting a system set up in which they can compile Pulsar and the PL.

WE are trying to use either the microzed 7010 or the 7020.  We need custom PL and pulsar running on the board.

    Hi Matt,

I hate to answer a question with more questions, but can you be more specific?  Are you having trouble running bitbake to build a new/custom Pulsar Linux image for your MicroZed?  What step-by-step guide are you using?

Thanks for replying.  we are really struggling and I hope we are just on the wrong track.

The documents directory has a link to a guide to building pulsar.  Here is the link:

    https://github.com/WindRiver-OpenSourceLabs/wr-core

bitbake is taking a very long time and usually errors out before it gets done.

Here is what we are trying to accomplish:

    1.  Use the microzed 7010

    2.  run linux that will allow us to use the Ethernet port

    3.  Program simple custom logic onto the FPGA

    4.  Interface the FPGA to the processor using AXI lite bus.

We have been able to run petalinux and build a simple system that has custom FPGA hardware and interfaces with the user via Ethernet.  However, we decided to go with Pulsar WindRiver linux so that we can run an ethernet communications program.  we cannot figure out a simple way to use a prebuilt linux and modify the PL to communicate.
