Vitis Unified IDE gets stuck when selecting OS and processor

I'm trying to learn how to use the Vitus Unified IDE2023.2, but the online documentation and tutorials seem a bit sparse.

I tried to create a new platform component within an empty workspace. After I select an XSA file though, Vitis gets stuck at the step shown below. The software doesn't hang but it just keeps spinning at this point.

Some postings that I found online suggest that I need to install a device tree generator. Is this so? Our team is using Windows and the instructions that I found were all for Linux, so I don't know what to make of that.

Go to the Xilinx link and find Vivado Lab Solutions - 2023.2. Download the appropriate file for your system (windows). This should work, it worked for me. If downloading the lab solution does not work…

You are missing a download file. Go back to the Xilinx where you downloaded the software, and make sure you have all files downloaded not just the Vitis installer. I had this same issue and this worked for me.

I executed the AMD Unified Installer for FPGAs & Adaptive SoCs 2023.2: Windows Self Extracting Web Installer and selected all the options below. None of the remaining options seem relevant. Were you referring to some other installation file?

Are you sure that the .xsa was created with the same version of Vivado, 2023.2?

Go to the Xilinx link and find Vivado Lab Solutions - 2023.2. Download the appropriate file for your system (windows). This should work, it worked for me. If downloading the lab solution does not work try downloading Vivado ML Edition Updates 1 & 2 as well.

Try to use XSA file from available sample project similar to your board. Just to make sure your tools installation is fine. I haven't really used Vivado\Vitis on Windows. Try to install the tools on another PC. I usually download the offline installer which is about 100GB just to avoid issues with connection while installing. If things don't work out, you might want to try Linux on a VM?

The XSA and the new project are both for a MicroZed board, so it's definitely not a board incompatibiilty issue.
