Ultrazed Hardware Design 1.8V signals working in PL PMOD headers

1.8V signals working in PL PMOD headers

Hi everyone,

I am using an Ultrazed IO Carrier Card with Ultrazed EG SOM. I try to connect 1.8V LVDS signals to PL PMOD Headers – JX1, JA1:JA6. However, these signals work like a 3.3V LVDS signals.

In UltraZed IOCC-UG 1v1.pdf it can be read in page 25:

"The UltraZed IO Carrier Card has 12 PL PMOD headers with dual-PMOD connections. Six of the
PMODs are attached to JX1 header, and the other six attached to the JX2 header. The PMOD
interface operates at 3.3V while the SOM I/O is 1.8V. A 1.8V to 3.3V voltage translator
TXS0108EPWR is used to provide high speed level translation. The signals are routed as 50 ohm
single-ended signals."

Is there any way to operate with 1.8V in the PMOD interface?

    The PMODs on the UltraZed IO Carrier Card support 3.3V single-ended I/O only. Since these signals go through 1.8V to 3.3V level translators, we can't support 1.8V single-ended or differential signaling for the PMOD signals.

    It is not posible even as 1.8V LVDS inputs?

    Voltage translators on the IO Carrier Card only support single-ended level translation, they cannot translate LVDS signals. The only possible way to use these signals as 1.8V LVDS would be to remove the level translators and short the translators Port A to Port B. However, by doing this you will void your warranty.
