Power fails on AES-ZU3EGES-1-SK-G  boards

After running I/O carrier board and module for about 4 hours the power to the boards failed.

This has occurred on another board set we using for development. Jumpers on IO carrier boards are in the correct positions and JP1 on SOC module is removed.

Led D10 VIN-HDR is on and led D9 PG-MODULE is off.

Tried cycling the power off and on but will not power up.

Has this been observed on other UltraZed boards? Any way to get this working?

    Hello Jwilly,

Could you please provide back some information:

1.What is the voltage at the test headers on the carrier card when it fails?

2.What is the temperature of the ZYNQ(You have a fan/cooling system installed correct)?

3.What application are you running? One provided by Avnet or your own?

No PG_MODULE means that one of the SOM rails went down for some reason.

Could you please check the SOMS power rails and provide back that information.

The easy way to detect what happens to the SOMs rails is to be able to utilize an IR dongle to monitor the power supplies of both the SOM and IO Carrier Card to see what is causing the issue.

The hard way to detect what happens is to use the schematic and probe the SOM power supplies. There are large capacitors and inductors on the SOM where you could probe the rails and measure the voltages of the specific rails to see if one of them went out of regulation. The schematic lists the required voltages of each rail.

    Hi Josh,

    1) What is the voltage at the test headers on the carrier card when it fails?

    VMON Header

    -------------------

    Vin:                         12.07 V

    MGTRAVCC :        0.119V

    MGTRAVTT:           0.002V

    VCCO_1.8V :         0.031V

    +5V:                         0.019V

    3.3V :                       0.015V

    3.3V PRI:                3.285V

Voltage rails on inductors and capacitors are same.

2.What is the temperature of the ZYNQ(You have a fan/cooling system installed correct)?

The temperature on the Zynq has always been cool when running  and the fan has been installed and operating correctly.

3.What application are you running? One provided by Avnet or your own?

U-boot and Linux kernel images from Xilinx GIT repositories with Debian filesystem.
