UltraZed-EV Starter Kit Petalinux 2018.3 bsp and some links broken

jlesquer
jlesquer over 6 years ago

Hello,

I've seen that there're a few versions of the Petalinux bsp to download from here | Zedboard  but the one for 2018.3 version is missing.

Is there any plans to upload a bsp for Petalinux 2018.3?

Would it be possible to use/upgrade the 2018.2 bsp in the 2018.3 tools?

On another hand the out of the box design link looks broken: http://zedboard.org/restrict/download/redirect?redirect=/sites/default/files/design/uz7ev_evcc_sd_oob_2017_4_bsp.zip

Anyone knows where can I download this file from?

Thanks.

    Hi there!

    • There are plans to release a 2018.3 BSP.  I will have to check with the developer team to see what is the planned release date.
    • I do not think that is how you upgrade a BSP - it is a Linux configuration not like just a Vivado design.  Again, I'll check with the Developer Team for guidance
    • I just tried the link you posted.  You DO have to log into the Zedboard forums to access that file
      • Keep in mind that file was posted to the old forums and thus follows the old forum rules, hence the need to additionally log in

    Hi Jose,

Is there a specific reason why the 2018.3 BSP is needed for your application?  The 2018.2 tools and BSP were very stable and so it should be okay to use for most applications.

It usually takes us a few weeks to put together a new fully-tested BSP after the Xilinx tools are released.  However, we have been hard at work churning out the Ultra96 V2 board and basic support for it.  Now that the release has happened, we can start putting together more complex support packages:

    https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190327005183/en/

Likely the earliest that we will see a 2018.3 PetaLinux BSP for Ultra96 would be the end of April.

    Best Regards,

    -Kevin

    Hi drozwood90,

Thanks for your reply and info, good to know there are  plans for the 2018.3 release,

Regarding the link issue, I'm already log in but I'm still not able to download the file from the above link, also, I can download the Petalinux  bsp 2018.2 standard but the Petalinux  bsp 2018.2 Enhanced link doesn't work for me either... .

    Cheers.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the reply, and the estimated release date...

The reason is that we already done some Vivado hardware design in 2018.3. We can consider install 2018.2 but it would be easier to keep same petalinux version...

Would it be possible to use the hdf instead with the Ultrazed-EV kit to create the petalinux project?

    Hi Joshua,

I tried to download it but instead of the reference design the link gives me this bsp: uz7ev_evcc_sd_oob_2017_4_bsp.zip

Could you please provide a valid link to download this out of the box reference design?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jose,

Are you referring to using different petalinux/vivado versions? If that is what your asking, Xilinx does not recommend mismatching tool versions in any design.
