Ultrazed-7EV SDI TX Example

mterminator
mterminator over 5 years ago

Hello,

I'm currently working with Ultrazed-7E CC and SOM. I couldn't find any bare-metal SDI example design. All the samples are for ZCU106. Can you help/navigate pls.

Thank you

    HI Mervan,

At this time, we do not have a public design for the SDI.  Your best bet is to port a design that is close.  I would suggest something for the ZCU104, but a ZCU106 should also work.

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks, is there any way to see all samples for ultrazed-ev dev board ? I mean all petalinux, berametal and hdl design etc.

    Cheers,

    Umit

    Hi there,

You can find all the reference designs - except the ported TRD on the main product page, under Reference Designs.

    UltraZed-EV

The ported VCU TRD is located here:

UltraZed-EV VCU (Video Codec Unit) Design

which has links to the blog, as well as example videos to explain what the boot.bin will do.  However, you can bring in any of the modules that create that TRD if you want to utilize other portions of the TRD itself.

    Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately, there is no significant amount of ref design and ready-to-go design.

In below links there might be several sample but not for ultrazed-ev board.

    https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/pages/176619720/Zynq+UltraScale+MPSoC+VCU+TRD+2019.2+-+SDI+Video+Capture…

Do you have a master plan or schedule for SDI TX-RX, MIPI, HDMI IN/OUT, DP, petalinux examples etc. for ultrazed-ev? We must not need to design these whole things from scratch.

    Umit,

The links I sent you has the designs for the UltraZed-EV as well as the ported TRD port.  The TRD has been ported for 2018.3.

While we are working on the 2019.2 version, I cannot say when that will be out as there is a large porting effort underway in order to accommodate the new Vitis tooling.

    Hi Daniel,

Based on ZCU106 sample design, I've created my own SDI-TX Design. The Design is as attached. However, when i run the program i cannot debug the system because the GTH_REFCLK seems to be not working. Can you Help pls.

    Thank you

    Hi there,

    Have you checked:

    • you have the correct constraints?
    • Clocks physically wired in the correct location?
    • Clocks assigned properly in the block design IP blocks?
    • Used a scope and checked that the clock is actually present on the board?
    • Using the proper clock for the transceivers that you are attempting to use? (some IP blocks cannot share between transceiver logic blocks)

    Hi all,

I wanted you to be aware, that while it is not released yet, and while it is not SDI, we have been able to get the HDMI+VCU working in the latest tools.  That should get you really close and should only have to tweak for the SDI path.

We have not completed our testing / tweaking at this time, so support will be minimal (as mentioned, not released yet).

If you want to start playing with it, you can see the current code on our GitHub:

    https://github.com/avnet/petalinux/tree/2020.2

You'll want to build the hdmi_v version

    image

There are example scripts in the home folder.

Hello MCA, I was wondering whether you managed to get your SDI TX example working on the UltraZed-EV.  This looks like it would be useful for a project I am working on and I would be interested to know more about any progress or challenges you still face.
