Greetings Forum!
I hope this finds you all well.
I have a specific requirement to design a system containing upto 8 independent Ethernet ports. There is no requirement for that all of them to be GBE, the requirement is a mostly 10Mbps on almost all interfaces. The data is being received asynchronously on 5 ports and generated by the Embedded system and transmitted on the other 3 ports.
Moreover, there is another requirement on the same system to have upto 4 parallel 3G-SDI interfaces. The processing requirement for raw videos is only encoding.
I did some research and came across the UltraZed-EV by virtue of handling multiple video streams using hardware based H.265 codec. However, there is only Ethernet RGMII PHY on the SoM itself and the magnetics/ connector lying on the carrier card.
The documentation apropos UltraZed EV SoM categorically states the reason for having the PHY on the SoM instead of carrier card to meet the timing requirements and signal integrity.
Please advise possible solutions or alternate approaches to the problem statement. If we go into a customized SoM design, it will take a significant toll on time to market, infact the reason for going with a SoM is to reduce development cycle.
Notwithstanding time constraints, we are open and preapred to conduct a customized carrier card development process that may house all the PHYs on the carrier card itself and use the JX-3 connector to interface with the SoM.
Best Regards
