Zedboard FMC connector replacement

The FMC connector on the Zedboard I have "broke" by accident. I had an extension board sitting on the FMC connector. The Zedboard fell (by accident) and landed on the connected extension board. As such this ended up partially ripping the FMC connector out of the Zedboard.

1. Since the FMC connector is partially rippped, should I just remove it instead of trying to putting it back onto the board? OR Can I replace the FMC connector or solder it back? If so, any recommendation on how?

2. Can I still use the remaining of the board if I am not interfacing with the damaged FMC connector?

Any help will be appreciated.

    Here is what our engineering group had to say:

     

    If the connector "ripped" partially off the board he may have lifted the pads, in which case the board cannot be repaired.

     

    He needs to:

     - Have the Connector removed with heat

     - Clean any remaining solder off the pads.

     - Inspect the pads on PCB with a microscope to see if any of them are lifted.  If any of them are obviously lifted then no need for the microscope.

     

    If the pads are still in-tact then he can order a new connector and have it placed back on the board by a local CM. A stencil will need to be ordered for them to palace the new connector.

     

    The rest of the board should operate fine with the damaged connector.

     

    Hope that was helpful. I suspect that replacing the board might be more cost effective than repair.

    Thanks for the response Gary.

    Yes the pads are busted. I can use the board for other application where I do not need a FMC connector. I shall get a new board. It will surely be cheaper that trying to repair it.
