I know, the Zedboard needs 12V DC. But is it possible to drive the Zedboard with 15V or 5V, too? The Maxim voltage converter should be able to handle this...
Answer:
The limitations you will have are that the FMC interface is connected directly to the Vin, which is why we require 12V input. You could run the board off of 15V, but that would potentially damage any FMC cards connected.
We can't support 5V input without modification because we drop the 12V to 5V before feeding the onboard regulators. You could do some modification and feed the board 5V, but you would have to do so after the MAX8686 that drops the input from 12V to 5V. You also would lose FMC functionality.
