DRAM components

Hi,

According to ZedBoard_HW_UG_v1_1.pdf, the ZedBoard includes two Micron DDR3 memory components.

In the application I'm developing I need to read and write arrays in RAM, so I wonder if it is possible to use one of the memory components for writing and the other for reading, reading and writing need to be performed in parallel.

    Hello Emanuel,

The Zynq PS DDR Memory Controller is detailed in UG585, the Zynq 7000 Technical Reference Manual, in Chapter 10:

    http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug585-Zynq-7000-TRM.pdf

While it can implement either a 16 bit or a 32 bit physical interface to the external DDR memory devices there is no option to implement two separate 16 bit interfaces. You can issue 'parallel' read and write requests and the DDR controller will queue them up and execute them as efficiently as possible.
