UART1 RX problem

Hi all,

 

for the past few days I've been trying to get input data from a terminal to my SW application running on Zedboard. I am using UART1, and I tried all of the example projects Xilinx provided in SDK. However, all of them pass apart from the low echo example which actually tries reading data the user sent - it gets stuck in the while (!XUartPs_IsReceiveData(UART_BASEADDR)), which should check if there is any data in the RX FIFO.

 

When I send data over the terminal, the data obviously gets to the Zedboard since LD10 blinks, but the example project never gets out of the while loop mentioned above. Did anyone else by any chance have a problem like mine, and how did you solve it? I'd be grateful for any help provided.

 

I'm using Vivado and SDK 2016.3.

    Hello Kroliczek,

    I am not quite sure what issue you are describing with the low echo example. I was able to compile and run it on a Zedboard with no issue using Vivado 2016.4. You do understand that the code is simply inverting all Capital and Non Capital letters correct?

    I am going to suggest that you ask this question over at Xilinx as they are the orginators of the code you are trying to run.

    aye, I do understand what the code is about. The problem is I cannot seem to send anything over a terminal to have it inverted because the code gets stuck in the while loop I mentioned earlier. Rx FIFO for some weird reason is always empty.

    Basically, even if not talking about this specific code example: neither of my codes receive data I try to send over the terminal, no matter the function I use for getting a character off the terminal. You mentioning it runs on a Zedboard if you compile and run it under 2016.4 made me wonder now if it's potentially a tool version problem, not a hardware one.. Thanks for your reply, I'll download the latest version and try running the code using it.
