MicroBlaze does not start from SD card

Hello everybody,

I have tried to make a design with a MicoBlaze communicating with one of the ARM-Cores. I derived my design from xampp1093. In fact that this tutorial is not made for the ZedBoard I did not use the customized core but a GPIO to reset the MicroBlaze on startup. If I start the two applications directly from the SDK all works fine. But if I try to start the apps from the SD card only the ARM-app starts and the MicroBlaze does nothing. Is something wrong with my linker script or in my design? You can find my whole vivado and sdk project here.

Please help me I have no clue how to fix this problem.

Kind regards

Sebastian

Are you including the BRAM initialization in the image you store to the SD Card?

    Hi Bryan
thank you for your reply. I don't use a BRAM in my design. the MicroBlaze has a connection the the DRAM of the ZedBoard through the high performance ports of the PS.

My thought was that you are not populating the MicroBlaze application code into memory. When you run via SDKI, the JTAG bootloader will copy the MicroBlaze code where it needs to be. When you boot from SD Card, you have to store the MicroBlaze application in non-volatile memory and then bootload it yourself to the correct location in RAM.

When the MicroBlaze application is small enough, you can locate the application in BRAM and simply include a BRAM initialization. But it sounds like that is not what you are doing, so you'll have to create your own bootloader application to populate the MicroBlaze application.

    Hi Bryan,

I'll try it with the BRAM. I think that my application is small enough to place it there.
