AMP Running Linux and Bare-Metal System on Both Zynq SoC Processors

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to utilize both cpu0 and cpu1 on zed board(Zc702).
Using the document xapp1078,that document having operation of cpu0 on linux and cpu1 on bare-metal.

In that document they provided link to download the design files having Boot.bin, fsbl ..etc

Then I followed the steps upto making softUart.elf(page no:21)and I copied the file to SD card, which they mentioned in the document(page No:23).

After I switched on Zed Board, booting process has to start, but booting process is not started(i.e,failed).

Pls kindly provide solution as soon as possible.

Here i mentioned link below for xapp 1078 document as follows:
http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp1078-amp-linux-bare-metal.pdf

    ZedBoard Booting and Configuration Guide

Verify the Configuration Mode jumpers are
    MODE3 (JP10) shunted to 3.3V
    MODE2 (JP9) shunted to 3.3V
All other MODE pins shunted to GND

okay. well, i don't think there is a generic problem with the design. and, following the app note, i did not have any problems. of course you realize that the zedboard and zc702 are different boards, so you must modify the platform design in XPS.

    search for this thread.

FreeRTOS running on both ARM cores  Zedboard

aprt from this, is your SD card good? hate to think it's the zedboard -- is it working for other apps?

    good luck!

You can't follow exactly the application note xapp1078 as zc702 and zedboard have different features.
    Check out this link: https://github.com/vcesson/xapp1078_z
First, just to check if the issue comes from the board, you can try the SDCard-ready files. Put all files from my "sdcard" folder to your SD Card, it should work.
Then, if it works, you may want to rebuild all files. Follow the application note from xilinx but take into account the changes I describe in the pdf file.
    Hope it helps.

copied all the files to SD card and while executing, can't access that memory location.so it needs the Ethernet connection .For that it requires changes in the Devicetree.dtb. so made changes in the zynq-zc702.dts(as per document)and while compling to devictree.dtb..it showing error as no such file or directory..so kindly help me to find the exact command for compling.

It doesn't need any Ethernet connection.
Do you have anything back on your terminal? Be more precise please.
Don't forget to set a jumper on JP6 also!

Indeed, there may be a problem with the Ethernet, but you don't need it for this application note.
The commands you should use are:
"/mnt/softUart.elf &" to run the soft uart between the two cpu
    "/mnt/rwmem.elf 0xfffffff0 0x18000000" to wake up cpu1
"/mnt/rwmem.elf 0xffff8000" to see the variable which is incremented by cpu1 every second
    and
"/mnt/rwmem.elf 0x78600000 1" to send an interrupt to cpu1, which will then acknowledge it to cpu0

    Is this working?
