HDMI Display Controller Tutorial Issue

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hello,

I am using the following tutorial to build a vdma based video project.

http://community.em.avnet.com/t5/FMC-HDMI-I-O-VITA-Image-Sensor/FMC-IMAGEON-IP-Cores-and-Tutorials-for-Vivado-2013-3/td-p/8356

I have build the Display controller and everything builds correctly in Vivado 2013.4.  But nothing gets displayed on the monitor.

Can anyone please point out what might be wrong?

(other tutorial examples, passthrough, worked like a charm)

Take a look at this post for a possible answer:

    Hello,
One common mistake with this tutorial is to expect the color bars on the ZedBoard's HDMI connector.  Can you please confirm that you have your monitor connected to the FMC-IMAGEON module's HDMI output connector ?
Can you confirm that your monitor supports 1080P60 resolution ?
    Regards,
    Mario.

    Hi Mario,

Thanks for the quick response.  Yes, I did connect it to the fmc card's HDMI output.  Also the monitor does support 1080P60 resolution.  I think the HDMI passthrough demo is also built for the same resolution, and that has no issues running on this monitor.

My end goal is to merge these two demos and have HDMI in, VDMA and DDR thing, and then HDMI out. But struggling to get the second demo working :(

    Thanks for all the support

I found my solution.  In the tutorial, it assumes reset for High performance bus would be connected automatically to reset of fclk1 but I had to derive freset1 in ARM manually and connect that to the reset system for HP bus

Thanks for the great reference design!
