ZedBoard_Alternating Checkerboard test failed

Dear all,

I have recently purchased the ZedBoard and AD-FMCOMMS1 board for software defined radio kit.

I have followed getting started guide from Avnet on configuring the ZedBoard and FMCOMMS1 kit and after running the required tests one of them Failed. It was saying that Alternating Checkerboard Failed.

I understand that this perhaps has something to do with Analog Device board but do you happen to come across this error before and if yes any suggestions on what it means?

Could you give us a little more detail on the failure, perhaps a screenshot, etc.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I have the screenshot as .png file but dont know how to insert it on the forum. Any idea?

Basically, as soon as Linux boots on the ZedBoard, according to the instructions in Getting Started Guide, I have opened a browser and settings for the FMCOMMS1 board and ZedBoard comes on the screen. There is a Test button there which when executed performs several tests of the ZedBoard and FMCOMMS1 and all of them indicated PASS except one (ie Alternating Checkerboard). That is as far as I got. If you want me to perform a specific thing on the board so that you can have better idea please let me know.

I would have attached a screenshot of the browser and this message but I dont know how to do it here.

You help is highly appreciated.

There should be a 'paste' button in the toolbar above the comment text box. Depending on your browser you may have to paste the screenshot in an additional pop up box. If you have any problems you might try FireFox as it seems to have fewer issues that other browsers.

To help our investigation can you provide the following details?

·         Which ZedBoard rev / which AD-FMCOMMS1 rev?
·         Purchased as a kit AES-ZSDR-ADI-G ?
·         … or separately from ADI ?

Any news on this?

I also recently purchased the zedboard and FMCOMMS1 Rev B as a kit. The out-of-box demo worked fine, including the self-test for the AD9643. I was following the Avnet Speedway tutorial for SDR here: http://www.zedboard.org/course/software-defined-radio-zynq

The self-test is described on page 10 of lab 1. During my initial walk through the lab, I noticed some differences in the appearance of the front panel webpage hosted by the ARM so I decided to try out the latest boot image for the FMCOMMS1 demo from here: http://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-software/zynq_images

After transfering the new image to my SD card (I have a second copy for backup) I booted up the zedboard and reran the test. That's where I got the failure identical to the previous post. I don't see a way to paste in my screenshot here (maybe a browser issue). Maybe I'll try the dropbox route that Milos used.

Also a question to the previous post (and all users on the forum):

Did you menage to run all labs from Avnet Speedway course? Did you manage to boot the board with QPSK TxRx on it following the steps described in this course?

I have tried doing this and after about million attempts (with all possible combinations of what could go wrong) it does not boot. I followed exactly the same steps as described in this Speedway course.

Even used BOOT.bin file from the Solution directory of Lab3 but still not luck.

Also used software versions as required for this course.

I am begging anybody who can give any kind of advice. Any comment will be highly appreciated.

I'm also have the same issue after running test and it displays Alternating Checkerboard FAILED. Any idea how to solve this problem.
