Update to HDMI test project.

Hi, I've finally got around to working out how colour on the Zedboard's HDMI transmitter works.

You can find a sample project that displays red/black/green/white/blue colour bars on my wiki, at http://hamsterworks.co.nz/mediawiki/index.php/Zedboard_HDMI_v2.

Hope it helps somebody...

Cheers

Mike

I've just updated it to include colour space conversion, and to change the clock rate to be the same as the pixel rate (rather than 2x).

Now the image is generated in RGB and shown on both the VGA and HDMI port.

Just added one more update. 1080p now works, with the fabric running at 150MHz - so using true DDR. The test pattern has been change from colour bars to a sort of true-colour display.

It is also using cascaded DSP blocks, to improve timing and reduce resource usage.

The full project for both 720p and 1080p can be downloaded at http://hamsterworks.co.nz/mediawiki/index.php/Zedboard_VGA_HDMI.

The HDMI clock timing for the 1080p version is most probably a little flakey - I wouldn't be surprised if further tweaking is needed.

I tried your pure VHDL ISE 14.7 Project Navigator XISE project (Zed vga hdmi 1080p.zip; no ARM cores, hard peripherals, or software utilized) and ran it on a ZedBoard.  I found that both the HDMI and VGA outputs from ZedBoard work as you have documented (tested on Dell ST22 Monitor).  Well Done!

This design was very useful to me, so thanks! Do You plans to publish some example of DDR3 memory without the PS?

Hi - glad to see it was of use.

All access to the DDR RAM is through the PS, so the PS has to be configured.
