reading from sd card with only pl

I am new to the zedboard, but would like to be able to read data from an SD card and copy it to DRAM on the board, only using programmable logic.  Is there something like this that already exists? Or can someone point me in the direction of some documentation on where to get started?

Thank you!

    Hello Ryanovsky,

If you are new to ZedBoard, I would highly suggest you run through our Devloping Zynq Hardware and Developing Zynq Software Speedways we offer. I would personally suggest you start with the Zynq Hardware Speedway first since the Zynq Software Speedway builds off of it. Also please make sure you download the labs that correspond with your tool set. You can find them at:

    Hello,

this is the same problem that I posted in "Site location not valid". I try to access the pins D11/C14 (that are MIO Pins) directly from PL and in the next step I need to access the pins E14 (SD-CCLK), C8 (SD-CMD), D8 (SD-D0), B11 (SD-D1), E13 (SD-D2), B9 (SD-D3) D12 (SD-WP) and  B10 (SD-CD) wich are MIO Pins also directly from PL and thus I have the same problem as Ryanovsky.

I expected that these pins are easily accessible from PL if none of the I/O peripherals connected to the MIO bank is in use what is true in my case. Thus, if in the VHDL top module a signal USART_RX exists, I expected that I can write

    set_property PACKAGE_PIN D11 [get_ports USART_RX]

in the .xdc constraint file. But this results in the error message "Site location not valid".

Can anybody help us by giving a step by step guidance on how to access these pins directly from PL???

    Regards

    Norbert
