Noise in Line out

I configured the audio codec through I2S in zedboard after referring zynq book tutorial. I am inputting audio into the zedboard through LineIn from PC and simply writing it back to LineOut. But I am noticing a lot of noise in LineOut. Even when there is no sound playing in PC, still there is some constant noise coming out of LineOut in zedboard. What should I do?

Hi there,

It sounds like you have a ground loop between your PC and your Zedboard. Due to the complexity in how a PC is setup, I have seen this happen on quite a few audio related setups.

The solution that has typically solved my problem is getting a ground loop isolator. Cheaper versions of these can be found at most electronics stores for not too much money.
There is also a professional level one on Avnetexpress.com : 721-0001-000

My suggestion is to get a cheap one to ensure this is the issue. When you determine that it is, go ahead and purchase a higher quality one.
