What is the point of the 1-1 AXI interconnect in ADV7511 reference design?

Hello, I have a working HDMI design that has changed little from the HDMI design in "Ubuntu on Zedboard" reference design. I am now drilling down to understand the video portion of the design. The PS --> ADV7511 high speed data path starts from the PS7's S_AXI_HP0 port and then goes through an AXI interconnect (instance name axi_hdmi_interconnect) in a 1-1 fashion: there is no other master or slave on this interconnect.

I don't understand why this interconnect is necessary. Can someone please explain, or point me to a reference that does? Thank you very much for reading.

Henry,
The Zynq Processor System (PS7) has AXI3 interfaces. Since all programmable logic (PL) designs and IP use AXI4 interconnect, a simple point to point connection will still have an AXI interconnect module to implement the protocol conversion.
If you open the hierarchy of the axi_hdmi_interconnect module, you will see the AXI Protocol Converter module.

Thanks you for the explanation, I guess you are referring to the s00_couplers under axi_hdmi_interconnect.
