Zedboard Ethernet Performance

We have done some performance tests on the ethernet connection on the zedboard. Linux identifies the ethernet port as being 1000 BT but the performance tests show a transfer rate at only 4.7 Mbytes per second. Poor for even 100 BT.

Is the zedboard capable of transfer rates that would be associated with a 1000 BT link?

Performance is usualy not even 1/2 the link speed, at best. It only gets slower from there, depending on the memory, and what else you need to do (with the processor).

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you that the link speed is usually much slower but at 4.8 MBytes or 38 Mbits/sec that isn't even close to half the 100 Mbit/sec line rate of 100 baseT not to mention that the zedboard is supposed to be a 1 Gbit/sec link which makes the 38 Mbits/sec through put of this board look like complete crap.

I suspect that the Ethernet driver is not using DMA.
