Real time video streaming

Hi,

I am trying to attach my xbox kinect to the zedboard and stream live video to a monitor.I found this video on youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPQSao98Ke4

This will be the stuff I would like to do but I wasn't able to find any good tutorials for it.

couple questions:
1. is the camera streamed directly to the PL fabric? If so where can i get a driver for it?

2. In the video, is everything done in the PL fabric or do ARM processors do sth as well?

    Hi Jared,

I don't think you will find many tutorials out there on how to connect Zynq up to USB cameras, but it is possible.

Since you are using Kinect, I am guessing that you would want to take advantage of the USB host connector on ZedBoard and run Linux so that you can get ahold of the video data using Linux drivers and pull that data into the PS memory space.

We did something similar for this demo seen here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e6RFvde6Bg

The USB webcam data is pulled in using v4l2 and the image processing is done using OpenCV.  It is based upon the work that some very talented students at Bucknell University did with ZedBoard.  You can find out more about their work here:

    Regards,

    -Kevin
