Warning Tutorial 01-04 Solutions

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi,

I'm using the Tutorial 01-04 Solutions for Vivado 2015.2.

Why there is the following warnings:

[Synth 8-350] instance 'inst' of module 'processing_system7_v5_5_processing_system7' requires 685 connections, but only 672 given [".../MZ_Basic_System.srcs/sources_1/bd/System/ip/System_processing_system7_0_0/synth/System_processing_system7_0_0.v":229]

[Synth 8-350] instance 'processing_system7_0' of module 'System_processing_system7_0_0' requires 39 connections, but only 22 given ["...MZ_Basic_System.srcs/sources_1/bd/System/hdl/System.v":82]

Thanks.
Tobias

One of our specialists reproduced this error using a basic Zedboard project with only a Zynq block in the BD. He also targeted a blank project based on a 7010 device with no board description file. The warning was present in both cases. He also saw the warning with both VHDL and Verilog wrappers. The warning was always present.

We believe this warning is caused by the absence of ports instantiated on the PS7 block in the wrapper as compared to the ports defined on the IP core. We believe the wrapper doesn't have a complete instantiation of all the ports defined on the IP core.

We also tried disabling the Triple Timer Counters with no affect so we turned off all peripherals except QSPI also with no affect. There was no way to get rid of this warning, and it wouldn't be advised to hand edit the wrapper to try to do so.

We believe this warning is safe to ignore. However, if you wanted more detail, we recommend you file a support case with Xilinx or post to their forum.
