DUMPING ETHERNET DATA TO PL WITHOUT OVERHEAD

Hi everyone,

I would like to redirect Ethernet payload comming/going from/to Eth0 port on zedboard without requiring intervention from PS (although it can provide initial configurations). In other words, i would like to use the EMAC on the PS and pipe data to an AXI interface, as Tri-Mode-Ethernet MAC does. The reason to do this is that the application is an LTE transceiver and i need data to flow between Ethernet and RF ASAP and software might introduce excessive overhead.

Can someone tell me if this is feasible?

    Hello,

What development Platform are you planning on using?

    Hi,

Doing your method is possible, this would consist of you routing the PS signal into the fabric via an EMIO connection.

As far as whether your concerns of software inducing excessive over head would be best answered by Xilinx in relation to the IP you wish to use. Please ask that question at the Xilinx support forum https://forums.xilinx.com/

This only dumps the phy interface to my PL, these interfaces are AXI masters, and so are the MAC cores (Tri Mode Ethernet MAC and AXI Ethernet), so i cannot redirect it this way. Am i correct?
