I assume that the 15 days consecutive requirement with corresponding completion date of Sep. 30th means that the latest you can still complete this is to have your first day of the 15 be Sep. 15th, and failure to start the 15 day period by then means you will not be able to complete phase 1, correct? Meaning, if you receive your kit and are unable to get your first day of connectivity to be before Sep. 16th, you cannot complete phase 1.
If I'm misinterpreting this, please let me know. I just got my kit 2 days ago, so I'm going to try and get it connected tomorrow (the 11th!) in the hopes that I can get the 15 days consecutively before the end of the month. Hopefully I have no "technical difficulties"!
This is exactly right! If you complete your Phase 1 requirement, that makes you eligible for the $200 USD gift card prize, and the winners of that are selected randomly from among those who completed the Phase 1 requirement.
The Phase 2 project design competition is judged instead on the merit of the projects, it is not random at all.
I only just was able to get my kit set up and working, so I checked in to this. From the Sensing the world main page:
"The 50 winners will be selected after the October 27th, 2019 close of the design challenge. These winners will be selected randomly from among those who have completed the Phase 1 requirement. You may choose to compete in this challenge and only complete Phase 1, but since the prizes available for Phase 2 are much more exciting we strongly suggest you compete in both! To be eligible for Phase 2 prizes you must have also completed Phase 1."
So you will have as good a chance as someone who got theirs day one!
Please make sure that the 50 winners of phase 1 are not chosen solely based on the number of days counted. We in India have recieved the kit late and get almost half the time some of the other countries have got. People have already hit 44 days on the leaderboard while I received my kit just yesterday. We get a maximum of one month compared to their extended period of two months. Please keep it fair.
