Part Number:FRDM-KL05Z

The FRDM-KL05Z allows you to quickly jump to 32-bit performance for your next microcontroller application by taking advantage of the features of the Nxp Freedom platform. The FRDM-KL05Z is a small but feature-rich evaluation board featuring a low-power Kinetis L series microcontroller built on the ARM® Cortex™-M0 core.

The Kinetis KL0 family is the entry point into the Kinetis L Series MCUs, which are based on the ARM® Cortex™-M0 core. The Kinetis KL0 family provides a bridge for customers moving into the 32-bit world by offering 32-bit capabilities and scalability at 8- and 16-bit prices and power consumption levels, and is pin compatible with Nxp's 8-bit S08P family. It's also software and tool compatible with the rest of the Kinetis L family to enable easy migration to even more powerful 32-bit devices later.

The FRDM-KL05Z development board features a MKL05Z32VFM4 processor, which is a enhanced version of the microcontroller found on the FRDM-KL02Z board. It adds DMA support, a DAC, and built-in hardware touch sensing (TSI), and can be used to evaluate the KL04 and KL05 families. It boasts a max operating frequency of 48 MHz, 32 KB flash, and 4 KB SRAM, along with a rich suite of analog, communication, and timing peripherals with features that work together to provide ultra-low power performance in a small footprint (down to a 4x4mm 24QFN).

Freedom To Do More

The FRDM-KL05Z on-board interfaces include a 3-axis digital accelerometer, capacitive touch slider, and tri-color LED. The KL05 device is also supported by the major ARM toolchains like Keil, IAR, CodeWarrior, CooCox, and more, and has complimentary RTOS and driver support with MQX-Lite and Processor Expert. Plus the FRDM-KL05Z has easy accessibility to analog and digital IO with its Arduino™ R3 compatible form-factor, which enables access to a multitude of community created shields and endless possibilities.

The FRDM-KL05Z also features the Nxp standard embedded serial and debug adapter, known as OpenSDA, built right into the board. This circuit offers multiple options for serial communications, flash programming and run-control debugging all over a simple USB cable. Ditch the expensive debugger and complicated flashing procedure: just drag, drop, and run!

Move your design to the next level by prototyping your next big idea with an easy to use 32-bit microcontroller on a flexible low-cost platform, and leverage the large ecosystem of compatible hardware and software. It's the freedom to do more.
