Gizmo 2 Boot failed: could not read the boot disk?

I haven't been able to boot up my Gizmo 2 board. I keep getting this error, despite following the start-up guide. Board has been kept in an ESD-safe environment and the SD card seems properly installed.

 

It's also saying SeaBIOS at the top, but the user manual says they're using SageBIOS. Did I get sent a prototype board?

  • The manner of booting depends on which Operating System you have installed and which instructions you followed when you did so.  For example, did you install Syslinux in the boot partition? Did you copy the  Timesys Linux kernel from the 4GB MicroSD card which came with your Gizmo 2?  Did you follow the Timesys instructions for installing a bootable Linux Operating System or did you follow the Ubuntu instructions (both will work, but the Ubuntu instructions require the use of a second disk [SD, MicroSD, USB stick, etc] plugged into your USB port (and it absolutely must be plugged into your USB 2.0 slot and while there are only 2 present on the board initially, the pins standing up directly behind the USB 3.0 metal "Box" is a socket for the addition of additional USB 2.0 slots [max of 6 can be added from that] but will only work for any of the Ubuntu varieties (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Mate).

    In my experience the Ubuntu instructions for Ubuntu install are functional for Ubuntu 16.04+ while the Timesys instructions can be problematic for Ubuntu 16.04+.  As to the Timesys instructions, the Timesys bzImage-3.12-ts-x86_64 Kernel is located on your Timesys OS MicroSD card which came with your Gizmo 2.  For booting from the Ubuntu instructions or any instructions or a USB Drive (rather than the Timesys OS MicroSD card which came with your Gizmo) you must begin pressing the F12 button repeatedly once you have pressed your Gizmo 2's power button (and the Green LED on your Gizmo 2 has turned off).  This will display a list of all connected devices (SD, MicroSD and USB Memory Sticks) with a number beside each. Press the number of the listed drive you wish to boot from and your Gizmo 2 will attempt to boot from it.  So long as you have followed the instructions I provided links to above, it will boot.

    And "No, SageBIOS is not a prototype and you may just have an illegible of defective boot graphic (but it is almost certainly just the graphic and not the entire bios)."
