Unable to get anything working...

pfinucan
pfinucan over 10 years ago

So I got my RiotBoard.  Plugged in keyboard mouse, hdmi, ethernet, and power.

The andriod OS starts up but is mostly off the screen so it is unusable.  I can't get past the splash screen.  :-(

UPDATE:  Got past the splash screen on andriod using this from the user manual

Display with HDMI Only (Default mode)

Execute the following instructions in u-boot mode to configure for HDMI display mode;

  MX6Solo RIOT U-Boot > setenv bootargs console=ttymxc1,115200

init=/init nosmp video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,720x480M@60,bpp=32

video=mxcfb1:off fbmem=10M vmalloc=400M

androidboot.console=ttymxc1 androidboot.hardware=freescale

  MX6Solo RIOT U-Boot > saveenv

For linux...

I downloaded fsl-image-fb-riotboard.sdcard from dropbox (link is now gone) put it on a micro SD card.  Set the boot switch per the uSD settings (below).

                D1 D2 D3 D4 D5 D6 D7 D8

Serial Download  0  1  x  x  x  x  x  x

SD (J6, bottom)  1  0  1  0  0  1  0  1

uSD (J7, top)    1  0  1  0  0  1  1  0

eMMC             1  0  1  1  0  1  1  1

I get this in the debug terminal

Where can I get a linux img for an SD that works?  Like ANY image that boots.  Most of the links on the element14 or riotboard.org are dead.  How do you adjust the screen size on andriod? The whole thing is very frustrating.

    Here are some Links that are working.

    Linux: http://downloads.element14.com/downloads/riotboard/Linux/image_SVN2487.zip

    Android: http://downloads.element14.com/downloads/riotboard/Android/image_SVN2597.zip

    Android Tools: http://downloads.element14.com/downloads/riotboard/Android/Tools.zip

    Didn´t see other working links by now.

    It´s really sad that e14 didn´t get anything working by now.

    Months passed and nothing much happened...

    With the tutorial (RIoTboard: Updating OS images in Windows Environment)  I have SVN 2487.  But the guide assumes you have MfgTool with:

    Profiles\MX6DL Linux Update\OS Firmware.

    When you download from free scale it doesn't have that profile. it has

    Profiles\MX6Q Linux Update

    I get no device detected in MfgTools.  I don't know how to make my own profile.  I have no idea how to make my own xml for flashing the board.

    I tried following Mainline Kernel and U-Boot with MFGTool example but there seems to be some steps that are assumed that I don't know.  What does the finial "cfg.ini"

    look like, it only shows the default.  Do I change that? Do I copy my files into the profile that is there or do I create a new one.  I tried it both ways but get error after error in mfgtools. like:

    Error:

    ModuleID[2] LevelID[1]: Error: Can't find the specified list(Sabre-SD) in the xml file

    ModuleID[2] LevelID[1]: Parse ucl script failed, error code: 12

    Updated cfg.ini to be:

    [profiles]

    chip = MX6Q Linux Update

    [platform]

    board = SabreSD

    [LIST]

    name = i.MX6SOLO-DEBIAN-RIOT-eMMC

    Error:

    .....\Profiles\MX6Q Linux Update\OS Firmware\u-boot-mx6solo-riot.bin failed to open.errcode is 2

    ModuleID[2] LevelID[1]: Parse ucl script failed, error code: 4

    Added u-boot-mx6solo-riot.bin to the MX6Q Linux Update profile.

    Error:

    bootscript failed to open.errcode is 2

    ModuleID[2] LevelID[1]: Parse ucl script failed, error code: 4

    Added bootscript to files

    Error:

    files\zImage failed to open.errcode is 2

    ModuleID[2] LevelID[1]: Parse ucl script failed, error code: 4

    Here I am stuck because I don't have a zImage file and I don't even know where to start looking.

    Any suggestions.  It would be great if there was one totural that worked with a set of files / tools that were avaible in one place.

    Thanks for the help.

    some files needs to be copied to the mfg tools to continue.

    dl the file from here : https://www.sendspace.com/file/9ijhbb

    file system from here.

    - replace "cfg.ini" in the MFG Tool folder.

    - copy u-boot-mx6solo-riot.bin & uImage & oneiric.tgz to "Profiles/MX6Q Linux Update/OS Firmware/files" folder.

    - copy ucl2.xml to "Profiles/MX6Q Linux Update/OS Firmware" folder

    That should help.

    When downloading the images you don´t need to change anything except for changing the filename from ucl2.txt to ucl2.xml.

    My tutorial is for flashing a self compiled mainline kernel with a bootscript and your own rootfs.

    If you have no device connected, make first sure you use the usb port on the board by the ethernet port.

    Also that the dip switches are set correctly. (1 and 5 Off)

    If still no device, then look into the Windows Device Manager.

    There should be an unknown device.

    Then try to install the driver manually.

    You´ll find it under Standard System devices.

    It´s the HID-Conform from producer defined device.
    (Or similar. Don´t know how it´s named in the english version of Windows)
