Hi,
Has anyone seen any issues with using a USB Serial Adapters with the Riotboard running Android? We are using the RiotBoard with the 7" LCD (LCD8000-70T-EX1) option. The Riotboard, LCD, and our Android application work okay; however, we need serial communications to control the rest of our system. We recently found an issue were any USB serial adapter that we connect to the USB on the Riotboard running Android will not be detected correctly, but sometime we can send data through it. If we have a connection established between Riotboard and serial device via a USB Serial Adapter and the USB Serial Adapter is removed and plugged back in, Android on the Riotboard doesn't appear to be able to detect that USB Serial Adapter has been plugged back in; however, if the USB Serial Adapter is left unconnected for > 30 seconds, then when the USB Adapter is reconnected to the Riotboard it seen by Android. However, after the first amount data is pushed out the USB Serial Adapter, the USB Serial Adapter stops sending.
We have mainly tested different FTDI adapters, and some CDC serial MCU interfaces. We have also try to loop back the serial port while using the FTDI Android hyperTermial applications by shorted pins 2 and 3 together on the 9 pin header. We can not get the loop back working so far.
Any pointers or help with using USB Serial Adapters for Android and the Riotboard woudl be a great help. Our project / product has now hit the blocker stage.
We were planning on moving from the Beaglebone Black to the Riotboard, but so far this hasn't be possible.
Our Android application and USB Serial Adapter supports works okay on the Beaglebone Black - just a little slow, so I'm surprised that we are having these types of issues on the Riotboard.
Thanks,
Robert
