How to get to the Uboot console

Former Member
Former Member over 12 years ago

Hey guys, I'm new to the whole ARM archetecture and I'm trying to boot the Linux build that Timesys gives you. I cannot get to the console that says "MX6Q SABRELITE U-Boot >" Can someone please give me some pointers? I can get to the debug serial output and issue commands via that

I'm an idiot, I was under the impression that you had to have the defalt card in the board...... It kept booting to the demo.

we've all done something like that at some point image

If you watch the early bootup on the serial console, there's a point where it pauses for a second or two with a message with a message something like 'press enter to abort boot' - I probably have the wording wrong, but you get the idea.. If you press a key at that point you'll get the u-boot console even if you have a card installed.

Also, If you follow some of the guides from linaro, Rob Nelson etc. and replace the uBoot in SPI flash with the minimal boot loader then you would need an sdcard installed to get to the uboot console, so YMMV depending on what else you've done.
