Overview
element14 and Lattice together presents the MachXO2 Pico Development KitMachXO2 Pico Development Kit, it's a low-cost, easy to-use platform for evaluating and designing with MachXO2 PLDs. The kit is based on a small form factor evaluation board that features the MachXO2 LCMXO2-1200ZE device, a 7-segment LCD display, I2C temperature sensor and an expansion header for I2C, JTAG, and GPIO interfacing.
The MachXO2 PLD on the Pico evaluation board comes preprogrammed with the Environment Scanning system-on-chip (SoC) design. This demo integrates multiple Lattice reference designs including the LatticeMico8 microcontroller, WISHBONE interconnect, UART, and peripheral controllers for SPI and I2C. Using the preloaded Environment Scanning system-on-chip (SoC) design provided with the development kit, you can now test within minutes, popular interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C and LCD control using the integrated 8-bit LatticeMico8 microcontroller in conjunction with the MachXO2 Embedded Function Bock (EFB). You can then build your own designs using the free downloadable reference design source code, implementing these features in less than an hour.
The board can be controlled with capacitive touch sense buttons and a menu-driven interface via a Windows or Linux terminal program over an RS-232/USB link. After you check out the pre-programmed demo running on the board, you can easily access the reference design source code including the HDL, firmware and design tools required to quickly modify it for your own application.
The board also features USB channels for JTAG programming and debugging from a host PC. The header provides access to a variety of I/O banks of the MachXO2 device and the on-board I2C bus. The board can be controlled with a menu driven interface via terminal programs running on a host PC.
The MachXO2 family of non-volatile infinitely reconfigurable Programmable Logic Devices (PLDs) is designed for low-power consumer applications such as smart phones, GPS devices and PDAs. Combining an optimized look-up table (LUT) architecture with 65-nm embedded Flash process technology, MachXO2 devices provide a flexible “do-it-all” solution for consumer designs.
Key Applications: Low-power Consumer applications such as Smart Phones, GPS devices and PDAs.
