    Hi Kurt,

I often perform the same checks in my work.  If I have a panel layout I will transcribe dimensions of controls, switches, cutouts, mounting holes, etc to a blank board, then determine the maximum size that will fit behind the panel when mounted and develop the PCB from there.  If I have the PCB, I will draw a layer in my CAD program for the board outline and any controls, cutouts, mounting holes or switches that will mate with the panel, as they are already fixed, and align everything to the panel.  The hardest part is to make sure that all the switches, knobs, connectors and screws coexist with the final graphic.  It is often a balancing act to get everything to fit and still look nice.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Kent,

what is the current EAGLE version you are trying to use as Freemium? Is it the current beta?

If yes, please send me a private email with the email adress you used for registering the Freemium.

I could reset the license for you then.... I suppose you registered for 5.11 or earlier and now you

    try the beta.

    Regards,
    Richard

    Hi Kurt,

EAGLE can export data in DXF format. There is a dxf.ulp for this.

    Does this help?

    Regards,

    Richard

Altho an experience mechanical designer I am a newby to Eagle.

I  need to place and verify the mechanical aspects of a design for a  client that is responsible for the electrical performance of the  product. I just have to make it fit in the overall design.

What  is best method to represent the size, vertical skyline and mounting  hole positions of a board for use by a mechanical Cad system (eg  Solidworks.

    Dear Richard,

I have finished one of my ulps, it works fine, but there is a little problem. There are V shaped holes on the picture. I know these are just coordinate issues, but i couldn't resolve them.

    Here's the ulp: http://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/40757-102-1-227209/logo.ulp.zip

I can put comments into the ulp, if you want.

    Hi Scott,

you have to do a "unsmash". This can be done in the copmonent's properties or you could do a GROUP, SMASH with Shift + Ctrl + right mouse button to unsmash all elements in the group.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hi Rob,

maybe the pin direction is "supply"? If not, please send me the library file by private email to support@cdasoft.de.

    So I can check it.

    Regards,

    Richard
