Idea about ULP and toolbar

EAGLE has too many ULP, to run ULP need to select from directory or pulldown from submenu every time, maybe add some customizable button on tool bar for user can be more easy for user, and a .ini file can storage the button name and ulp's full path name.

 

I strongly suggest CADSOFT implement it in future versions...

    yes, you are right.

     

    but I think it can use INI file to store the full path name of ulp file, and position number on toolbar , and the other...

     

    and then , once the board editor started, it load this INI file, and present on toolbar.

     

    so everyone can easily to customize the toolbar himself, only need Cadsoft given a example for user.

     

    it also can do more complex, since there maybe many parameter of a ulp, so every button on toolbar can have pull-down menu for different parameter of a ulp.

    As I learned now, EAGLE users are not able to add a single line of text to EAGLE.SCR and they are not able to type HELP MENU to get a description of what it does and how it works. I doubt that they will be able to open an INI file with the text editor then.

     

    However, you have a customizable toolbar right now. All you need to do is adding the MENU command to EAGLE.SCR (so that the toolbar can be constructed when opening the board editor) Why don't you give it a try? OK, you don't have pull-down menus...
