Display Layers window not showing layers in order

zainka

Hi

I changed a 4 layer design into 6 layers in the DRC settings. Went from using layer 1, 2, 15 and 16 to also include layer 3 and 14.

Now, in the "display layers" window, the two new layers do appear but not where you would expect them to be. Layer 3 and 14 are squeezed in between layer 250 and layer 100

Yup, layer 250 comes before layer 100. Is there a way to rearrange the visualization of the layers so that they are shown in the correct order? Thats question 1.

This is also related to another problem or weakness, in my opinion. I like to remove layers above 100 which I do not use. Say that I do that in design A and save. If I now opens

another design B, where several layers above 100 is used for user data, I offcourse expect them to be visible in design B. And they are, But If I now repoen Design A, the same layers that where visible in B (above 100) appears in this design too.

This is a bit annoying because I use these layers to store mechanical information like DXF imports etcetra for alignment. These layers are renamed to reflect their contents. Often this reflect the name of a customers project. Now, suddenly the name of another customers project appears as a layer (empty) in a design for a different customer. Not good, even though I am the only one seeing this information. Why ain't enabled layers following the design? Thats the second question.

You see layers below 100 have special meanings and should not be used EAGLE Help: LAYER That may explain them showing above 100. http://brc-electronics.nl/Generalfiles/Report2.pdf

Off-course you should use layers below 100, that's what we all do every day when using eagle. Where else do you route your signals or put your component names and values etc.if not in a layer below 100?

But I am not discussing the usage of layers but rather how the "display layers" window sorts the layers. I.e. in which numerical order they are displayed.

Also, when routing, and you click middle mouse button to select layer, the layers are not shown in order

    I would have expect to see 1, 2, 3, 14,15, 16
