In this presentation, we will discuss popular Insulation Displacement Contact (IDC) wiremount connectors, their attributes, uses and applications citing examples from the 3M Company.
IDC technology is used in a wide variety of connector types. From sockets to plugs to D Subs, IDC is the chosen means to terminate cable for many wire-to-board and wire-to-panel (or I/O) applications. The appeal of IDC sockets is that they are available in a wide choice of pitches and pin counts designed to terminate to several different types of cable quickly and accurately.
