Catastrophic Failure starting CS - The following exception occurred whilst loading section [big number]

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this error or knows what it means?

 

Error when starting CS - The following exception occurred whilst loading section 88857D7F1DF64F7BBB61848C965636 Catastrophic failure.

 

Happens every time I start CS, I hit OK and CS continues to load.

It seems to be towards the end of the startup process if I watch the details scrolling in the startup window, but it scrolls too fast for me to catch the last line before the error.

So far I haven't found anything that isn't working, but I don't exactly use all the features of CS.

  • The fact that CS is working would lead me to think the problem is with a driver or something and not the CS software.  You might try using an app that captures video of the start up screen messages or maybe make a video on your smart phone.

     

    Was it working before and now is not working?

    Hi,

    I think you might be right, but I'm thinking but maybe a sheet as the messages about loading modules and things seem to have passed and it's saying its loading  projects before the error pops up.

    I haven't found anything that doesn't work at all, I acknowledge the error message and all is fine.

    Having said that there's a lot of functionality I don't use or very rarely visit, so there still is a possibility something is broken.

    I just tried closing all the worksheets, closing CS and then restarting it.

    It started up without the error, so it looks like it's something about one of the sheets that is Catastrophic !!!

     

    So I'm going one by one to find the offending sheet.

    But now CS has been sitting for 3.5 hours saying "Rebuilding connectivity database"

    Well, I've figured it out now.

    I have one .CSPCBDoc sheet that if I leave it open when I close CS, I will get the error when I next start CS.

    If I close that sheet before I close CS, start CS then open that sheet all is happy, no errors.

     

    It's not so much resolved but I have a work-around or just keep acknowledging the error.

    I'm not going to worry about it any more unless it causes something else to fail.

    Some data in the sheet is bad. I was going to say a configuration was bad and needed to be cleaned.
