0603

Im new to using CircuitStudio and have set out all my resistors and capacitors using the footprint 0603 and when I layout the board the footprints were extreamly small. on investigation it appears that som bright spark has decided that a 0603 is a chip inductor 0.6x0.3mm having come from using kicad where you can simply open the files and do a text search and replace having all the files in a propiatry BIN format means this is not posable. It turns out a 0603 is actually in this enviroment a 1608[0603] so I have to go back to each component and manually change them from 0603 to 1608[0603] GRRRRRR and waste a couple of days. I telephoned Altium for support and was told in no uncertain terms that they didnt provide support pretty poor for a $1000 product. In the good/bad old days when it was Protel based in tasmania you could ring them or go to their office and get really good support allas now its no longer protel the focus is on the bottom line rather than the customer

    Hi,

It isn't clear what your question is.

You should be able to update the footprint easily.  You can do it at the schematic or at the PCB depending on whether you are changing the name of the footprint (at schematic) or the footprint itself (at the PCB).

If you are commenting on the lack of support from Altium, then they seem to provide support in special circumstances.  Pretty much you need to use this forum or another on-line forum (EEVblog, etc) for peer to peer support.  Even their flagship Altium Designer works mostly through peer-to-peer support though it is hosted directly at Altium instead of at Element14.
