Time to take a new look at Altium Designer

For years I looked at Altium designer with great envy. There was no way I could justify the cost and time to learn a new tool.

But a visit to Electronics Week this year changed everything. Firstly Altium have dramatically dropped the price of the tool, making it affordable to small businesses, and secondly the support from "Premier eda solutions" is just a phone call away.

OK, there is a steep learning curve, but I found after a week of using it on a real project, got me to a stage where I could start to feel I was making real progress.

Make sure your PC has a video card that can handel shader 3 or higher.

Now we have nanoboard 3000, dramatically reduced cost for FPGA development. Keep it up Altium ......

Hi Phil,

No problem.. I really am very keen and exited about Altium designer. Having an integrated environment that has all the tools at your finger tips, without having to purchase add-ons makes me very happy.

The nanoboard 3000 now brings FPGA projects within my working bugets and reach, as well .... Wow !

michaelkellett just got an explaination from our developer team - apparently this happens when a discussion is moved from one area to another - the website treats a moved discussion as a "new" discussion.
