import PADS .asc in circuitstudio

Hello Ashok,

I am trying to import a PADS .asc file into CS which seems to work as I get the board layout, but I don't get the  pcb tracks , holes or components.  Do you have a guide explaining how to import file from PADS .

The  PADS export format is layout VX.

Thanks

Nick

    Hi nick,

PADS import is supported in circuit studio. Not sure why this is happening. Can you send us your *.asc file and we can have a go at it? You can forward it to software@element14.com

    Hi Ashok,

Support is very slow for Circuit Studio,  is there another support channel that is available during working hours?

    Thanks

    Hello Nick,

I don't know anything about Circuit Studio, but I do use PADs (I'm still on 9.5, though, not VX). So this may not be helpful - if so, just ignore it.

Here's the dialog box in V9.5.

If you are are generating the asc file yourself, you could try one of the older formats rather than VX and see if CS is happier with one of those. Here's the asc export dialog box with the selection list dropped down (presumably, VX gives you all those plus an additional one for VX).

It might also be worth experimenting with the design units.

If the file has come from someone else, check that the sections that seem to be missing are actually in the file. As you can see, the dialog allows the designer to choose what goes in the file - they don't have to select everything.

    Thanks jc2048,

I managed to resolve this by trying the various pads versions.

    Cheers

    Nick
